Oats are a valuable cereal for the body's wellbeing; they are a source of fibre, vitamins, proteins and many other nutrients. Compared to other cereals, even when processed it retains the germ and bran that contain most of the nutrients, so it is a much more complete and healthy food. Nutritionally, oat grains consist mostly of starches and carbohydrates (60-70%), but they are an excellent source of vegetable protein (about 15%) and good fats.
